EVOLO: SKYSCRAPER FOR THE XXI CENTURY

Cell System Morphologies has been featured in the EVOLO: SKYSCRAPER FOR THE XXI CENTURY book, out now. The book is a collection of the winning entries of the past three editions of the competition: a very interesting look to the future declinations of one of the most innovative and radically fascinating building type of Modern architecture.
Here my entry.

M A R C O V A N U C C I

Marco Vanucci [AA Dipl, RIBA II] is a London-based architect and researcher. In 2007 he founded OPENSYSTEMS, an architectural research and design studio that explores the emergent interdisciplinary interaction between architecture, engineering, biology and computation.

He graduated from the Architectural Association in 2004 with the project Cell System Morphologies, a research on the articulation of emerging material systems exploring novel design methodology and performances.

His understanding of architectural practice as a problem of engineering material organization focuses his research on the development of an integral and coherent design approach at the intersection of architecture, engineering and computation in the endeavor to develop generative and performative systems.

He worked for Zaha Hadid Architects where, among other projects, he has been designing the new London Aquatic Centre for the Olympics 2012. He is currently working with Adams Kara Taylor developing his interest for non-linear system organizations investigating complex geometries and material research in the endeavor to bridge structural engineering and architecture.

He has been running design workshops and taken part to several exhibitions in Europe and North America. He's also been invited as Guest Critic at the Architectural Association, Bartlett School, Columbia University, KTH Stockholm and ESA Paris.
